Did you know that it is widely thought that the Mute swan is descended from birds introduced from Britain to ornament the ponds and lakes from the 1700s?
They often seem semi-tame. These are the swans who children feed in the parks and ponds of Northern Ireland. Castle Archdale in County Fermanagh is the destination for many families with young children, to walk and talk and, “ feed the birds”.
Graceful and beautiful. This miniature painting captures the elegance of a Mute Swan.
Brooches can be worn on coats, cardigans and used to adorn a woolly hat, scarf, wrap, or handbag
